Set I
Nothing to do

Go deeper into the question of what

there really is to do in a life.

What can be done. What must be done.

What we choose while believing ourselves bound.

Perhaps what traps us is not necessity, but the fear

of a freedom we do not know how to bear.
Or perhaps freedom itself is another story we tell.
Perhaps, in any given moment,

there was never another choice.

Set II
Vision

Look closer at what it means to see.
Only when we see something for what it is

can we meet it on its own terms.

Yet fear, desire and conviction keep altering the image

— and we rarely know when we are seeing clearly.

It becomes harder in the presence of suffering.

What remains when we cannot

understand it, share it, or change it?

Can we stay without looking away,

without inventing meaning,

without pretending to know?

Perhaps everything depends on seeing what is there.
The darker thought is that we may

never know when we do.

Set III
Between Us

Feel what happens when two people need each other.
We reach for closeness, for recognition,

for something that might keep us from being alone.

Yet need can bind as much as it connects.

We shape one another, consume one another,

become lodged inside each other

— and still remain unseen.

How much of intimacy is truly meeting another person,

and how much is projection, hunger, fear?

How close can we come while still hiding what we are?

Perhaps loneliness does not end

when someone comes near.
Perhaps sometimes it only becomes harder to escape.
